Bedside Education Now Available for PEPID Suites

Phoenix, Oct. 2, 2017  — PEPID, a leading developer of clinical decision-making support tools, is proud to announce the release of Bedside Education. This point-of-care resource will plug directly into PEPID’s existing clinical decision support suites, providing Quick Refs and printable Patient Education Handouts for immediate access alongside relevant conditions.

““Bedside education is an important aspect of a patient's continuity of care. Once a patient is discharged from the hospital or leaves their doctor’s office, they need to be knowledgeable on how to care for themselves and their health concern."

When a patient is newly diagnosed with a disease or disorder, being properly educated about their condition and how to care for themselves at home can help improve outcomes. As the respected authority, the clinician assumes responsibility of educating the patient. Having a quick and easy-to-use reference available in the palm their hand makes it easy to take this next step in improving the quality of care.

With PEPID’s Bedside Education, a healthcare provider can easily access a Quick Ref of general measures to discuss while in the room with the patient. Patient Education Handouts provide the patient and family with easily digestible information and illustrations about their condition and treatment, including: what to do, what not to do, when to follow up, what to monitor, lifestyle modifications, and medication information. These handouts reinforce what the clinician has discussed with the patient per the Quick Refs, and provides additional information.

“Bedside education is an important aspect of a patient’s continuity of care. Once a patient is discharged from the hospital or leaves their doctor’s office, they need to be knowledgeable on how to care for themselves and their health concern. Healthcare providers accomplish this by first teaching and then reinforcing that education to help ensure better understanding, greater compliance and hopefully improved outcomes in a patient’s health status,” says Kathi Wallace, Managing Editor of Bedside Education and Nursing Products at PEPID.

Bedside Education is now available for download and integration with PEPID suites including: Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Clinical Rotation Companion, Professional Nursing, Critical Care Nursing Suite, Gerontological Nursing, Primary Care Plus Ambulatory, RN Student Clinical Companion, PEPID EMS Plus NAEMSE, and Pharmacist Pro Plus AHFS.
