The choice of electronic clinical information resources is as important to education excellence as the selection of book references. Our 'student' products—for nursing students, medical students, and training physicians—are complete, fully-capable professional databases that are organized the way subjects are taught and learned. Recent studies demonstrate that PEPID can be a key contributor to better education and clinical performance for both physicians and nurses. A project at Duke University School of Nursing showed that adopting PEPID on PDAs can make significant contributions to the development of leadership skills, enhanced learning, reinforcement of core knowledge, and building student confidence. Students used PEPID software for quick access to information on drugs, drug interactions, and specific diseases; nursing considerations, procedures, and protocols. Using PEPID, students better understood the patient situation and potential nursing interventions. The project also found that PDAs are especially useful in clinical settings, where other resources may not be readily available (White, et al).
